Maryland Drops to ACC Foe Georgia Tech, 5-2

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The University of Maryland women's tennis team dropped to No. 18 Georgia Tech, 5-2. The Terps fall to 9-6 overall and 1-2 against ACC opponents. Junior, No. 38 Delila Causevic (Sarajevo, Bosnia) recorded the only singles win for Maryland.
Causevic battled Gerogia Tech's Mysti Morris to three sets. In the end, Causevic came out victorious, defeating Moriss, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, team captain Emily Marker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) fell to Jaime Wong, 6-4, 6-1. Senior Pamela Floro (Manila, Philippines) was defeated by Catherine Dunn and Marta Jedrzejak (Sieradz, Poland) lost to Laura Ozolins. Freshman Emily DeCamilla (Sacramento, Calif.) fell in three sets and two tiebreakers, by the score of 4-6, 7-6 (5), 10-7. Chloe Chavardes (St. Nomlabreteche, France) was downed by Mason Miller, 6-3, 6-4.
Terps has better luck on the doubles end. The team of Causevic and Marker defeated Morris and Grant, 8-2. No. 3 doubles tandem of Floro and Chavardes won over Fallon Koon and Gunn, 8-6. Despite DeCamilla and Jedrzejak's 8-4 loss in doubles, Maryland notched one point for winning two out of the three doubles matches.
The Terps gear up for a busy first week of April. Maryland hosts defending ACC champions, the Duke Blue Devils at the Tennis Center at College Park on April 6 at 11 a.m. and North Carolina on April 7 at 2 p.m.
