BOSTON -
Former Terps Juan Dixon, Byron Mouton and Mike Mardesich all will participate this week with the Washington Wizards as part of the Wizards' summer league team in Boston. The Wizards are one of nine participating teams this week, July 15-21, playing games daily in the Shaw Summer League at Umass-Boston.
The Wizards debut on Monday, July 15 at 3 p.m. against the Milwaukee Bucks. Each team will play six games in seven days.
The Wizards will play everyday except for Friday. Washington has an 18-man roster that will be used this week including first-round pick Dixon and free agents Mouton and Mardesich. Dixon and Mouton were a part of Maryland's back-to-back teams that advanced to the NCAA Final Four in 2001 and 2002.
Mardesich, meanwhile, played professionally in Bonn, Germany, last season after helping Maryland to its 2001 Final Four appearance. Last summer, he saw action in Summer League play with both the Boston Celtics and the Utah Jazz.
Maryland's other 2002 NBA draft pick, Lonny Baxter, will debut in his summer league stint with the Chicago Bulls next week at the Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City. On Thursday, July 25 at 10:00 PM ET, the Bulls will take on the Memphis Grizzlies in a contest tentatively scheduled to be aired on ESPN. Baxter was a second-round pick of the Bulls, and will team with former Duke star Jay Williams, and former Virginia star and fellow D.C. native Roger Mason, Jr.
