Three Former Terps Named To ACC 50th Anniversary Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary men's swimming and diving team was announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. The 51-member team was voted on by the eight league institutions that sponsor the sport as decided by the league's 50th Anniversary Committee.
Mike Lambert (1986-89), Mike Noonan (1990-92) and Kirk Sanocki (1980-83) were the three former Terps named to the 50th Anniversary men's swimming and diving team.Lambert competed for the Terps from 1986 through 1989. He was a two-time All-American in the individual medley in 1988 and 1989. He won four ACC individual crowns, was a three-time All-ACC selection and was named the 1987 MVP of the ACC Championships.
Noonan received All-American diving honors in 1991 and 1992. He was a three-time ACC Champion, sweeping both the one-meter and three-meter crowns at the 1991 ACC Championships meet where he was named the meet's Most Valuable Diver. Additionally, Noonan was a two-time All-ACC selection while competing for the Terps from 1990 to 1992.
Sanocki holds the current school record for the most ACC individual championships with five. He was named an All-American in the breaststroke while competing for the Terps from 1980 to 1983.
Virginia led all league schools with 15 members on the Golden Anniversary team while NC State was second 12 honorees. North Carolina had 11 individuals selected, followed by Florida State with five, Clemson and Maryland with three each and Duke and Georgia Tech with one apiece.
