Eight Terps Earn All-ACC Academic Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Eight Maryland student-athletes were named to the 2012 All-ACC Academic Swimming & Diving Team.

On the women's side, Ginny Glover (Communications), Megan Lafferty (Criminology), Carolyn Fittin (Undecided), Alexa Hamilton (Communications), Victoria Cassidy (Undecided) and Amy Halligan (Journalism) were tabbed to the team. Glover and Hamilton were both three-time honorees. Cassidy was named to the squad for the second consecutive season.

Senior Andrew Relihan (Education) and freshman David Speese (Undecided) were named to the men's team. It was the second All-ACC Academic honor for Relihan.

Virginia Tech junior Heather Savage and Virginia graduate student David Karasek were recognized as the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athletes of the Year, respectively.

To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his or her academic career.
