Softball Open Tryouts To Be Held Starting Sept. 9

College Park, Md. - Calling all softball players! The University of Maryland softball team is holding open tryouts the week of Sept. 9. All full-time (enrolled in 12 credit hours or more) students are welcome to take a swing at earning a walk-on spot on the team. Interested athletes should contact assistant coaches Michelle Burrell or Julie Hudson at 301-405-0521.
Last season, the softball team placed third in the ACC with a 31-21 record. The team's .596 winning percentage ranks third best in the team's eight-year history. The Terps also swept interstate rival Towson in the debut doubleheader of the state-of-the-art Terrapin Softball Complex. The $3.6 million facility located to the right side of the Comcast Center seats over 1,000 fans and contains four batting cages, two bullpens, and underground dugouts.
