NASSAU, Bahamas - The No. 25 ranked University of Maryland women's gymnastics team placed second at the Bahamas Breeze Invitational, held Dec. 10. Ninth-ranked Louisiana State won the meet with a team score of 194.600, followed by Maryland who finished with a 190.450. The Towson Tigers came in third with a 190.225, while Illinois finished fourth with a 190.125.

Top Maryland performances were delivered by freshmen Cameron Logan and Kristi Skowronksi. Logan finished tied for second place on the floor portion of the meet, with a score of 9.850. Skowronski posted a team-high 9.650 on the uneven bars and a Terp second-best, 9.775 on the floor.

On the vault, junior Rachel Sibert earned a team-high 9.750, followed by freshman Rebecca Ruppert, who scored a 9.700. The talented freshmen class led the way on the beam as well. Rachel Martinez scored a 9.725 and teammate Alex Gatch posted a 9.700 to earn the top two scores for Maryland.

LSU's Jade Jenkins won the all-around as well the vault competition. Lindsay Beddow of LSU won the uneven bars and her teammate April Burkholder captured first place on the beam. Towson's Kristen Presutti edged out Maryland's Logan and two others for first place on the floor.

The Terps face-off against East Atlantic Gymnastics League foes, NC State and Rutgers, and Big Ten opponent, Ohio State on Jan. 17 in Raleigh, N.C.
