COLLEGE PARK, Md. - In the Terps' first home dual meet of the 2002-03 season, the Maryland Terrapins lost to the Navy Midshipmen 26-9.

In the first match of the meet, Patrick Cissne wrestled close with Navy's Andrew Hemminger before succombing 9-7 in the 174-pound weight class.

Senior Jake Stork pushed his dual meet win streak to four with a decision over Travis Manion. In a match that went back and forth, a late escape by Stork allowed him to squeak by with a 5-4 win tying the match 3-3.

In the 197-pound division, Sal Aquia lost his first dual meet of the year to Letchford by a score of 19-8. An early shot to the eye left Aquia handicapped throughout the match. The major decision by Letchford pushed Navy out to a 7-3 lead and they never looked back.

In the most exciting match of the night, Eric Fehnel defeated John Blackford 2-1 in double overtime. An athletic escape by Fehnel secured the win for the Terps, and left them down just 7-6. But that was as close as the Terps got.

In the 125-pound division, Matt Pandullo lost by a major decision to Sam Gray 12-4, and Mike Lupa lost 3-1 to push the Navy lead to 14-6.

John-Henry Zarzycki won the final match for the Terps in dramatic fashion with 4-3 win over Nate Gulosh. Zarzcki rode out Gulosh in the final minutes of the match to preserve the victory for the Terps. With the score 14-9, the Terps were still in striking distance.

But in the last three matches, two losses and a pin fall ended the Terps' chances of escaping with a win. Adam James was defeated 7-4 by Adam Brochetti, Jason Kiessling lost to Mike Carbonaro 3-1, and Jason Ellis lost to the 17th-ranked Frank Edwards by pinfall in 1:15.

The Terps will be in action next on Saturday Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. in Ritchie Coliseum vs. NC State.
