Sophomore Danielle Malagari continues her year-long journal from her travels with the Terps.

DURHAM -- Happy Halloween Terp fans! This is Danielle updating you from Durham, N.C. When traveling with the soccer team there are always some interesting things going on.

The freshmen, Ashly Kennedy, Anna Sheveland, and Elizabeth Foley dressed up for their first Halloween as Terps! I did not think that they would come through with very creative outfits, but when I saw them in the locker room dressed up, ready for our trip, I was truly touched. They did a great job and put a lot of time into their outfits as Willy Wonka (Anna) and Oompaloompas (Elizabeth and Ashly)!

In past years each class has come up with very unique outfits. It seems every year the costumes get better and better. Let's take a look at the past few years of costumes.

Our fifth-year seniors dressed as Dorothy (Lindsay Givens) and the Wizard of Oz in 1999. The current senior class was a variety of colorful crayons in 2000. The junior class dressed as the coaches in 2001 and last year, the sophomores were characters from Scooby Doo. The sophomore class has a lot of pride in what they did last year so I did not think anyone would be able to out do us. But I give the freshmen a lot of credit.

So after all the fuss over the Halloween outfits we hopped on the bus and were on our way to North Carolina. We watched three movies which were A Time to Kill, with an intermission of Mallory Mahar's sing-a-long CD. Then after that rude awakening, I was woken up by the obnoxious song, we proceeded to watch Soul Food and Varsity Blues.

I always find it easy to sleep on the bus because I am not one that likes to travel. I just like to get it over with.

We arrived at Duke's campus at about 5 p.m. and began to train on their practice field. We just kind of ran around and played a bit to get the kinks out from traveling. There was nothing too exciting about that so I will skip to dinner.

Of course we headed off to our favorite restaurant, Outback Steakhouse. As I always do I ordered a strawberry daiquiri (virgin) with whip cream on top. I gave Audra Poulin one taste of the whip cream and she was hooked. We ate our dinner and all that we talked about was how great the whip cream was. So, it would be very unlike us not to get dessert so we dug right into our delicious treats. Many of us got the dish of the apple cobbler and some of us just got a bowl of whip cream (it was THAT good). We ate it like ice cream!

After dinner we headed back to the hotel to get every thing settled for the rest of our trip and to talk a bit as a team then headed to bed. We are hoping to do great things during our visit to Durham! So I will keep you updated as the trip continues. Have a great day and Go Terps!
