In the second game, starting pitcher Jessica Aditays (Shrewsbury, Mass.) pitched another gem for the Terrapins. Aditays (2-0) struck out three and allowed four hits in the complete game victory. The Terps took advantage of walks and fielding errors in the fifth inning to stake a 2-0 lead. The Terrapins added an insurance run in the sixth inning when third baseman Crystal Rizzuto (San Leandro, Calif.) scored after Jillian Callaway (Brandywine, Md.) fouled out to left field.
In the first game, No. 17 Georgia (13-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the third. Georgia shortstop Ashley Godfrey led the inning off with a home run to left field. The Bulldog lineup put together five more hits in the third to build up the lead. Maryland fought back to put two runs on the board in the bottom of the inning. Freshman Natalie Grossman (Skillman, N.J.) started the Terrapin rally with a bunt single. She then stole second base and advanced to third on an error. Left fielder Nneka Cardoza (Brockton, Mass.) singled to left, scoring Grossman. On the next play, centerfielder Samantha Sweeney (Marlton, N.J.) bunted Cardoza over to second. Cardoza advanced to third base on the throw to first, then scored on first baseman Kim Wendland's error.
Georgia hurler Michelle Green (7-1) earned the win, while Maryland starter Monica Cyphert (Warren, Ohio) (0-2) took the loss. Aditays pitched four solid relief innings, allowing only one run and three hits.
