
Maryland Women's Tennis Wins Home Opener

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's tennis team won its home opener against Georgetown. The Terps swept both singles and doubles competition in the 7-0 win over the Lady Hoyas.
On the singles end, junior co-captain Emily Marker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) defeated Liora Gelblum at No. 1 singles. Freshman Ramona But (Timisoara, Romania) also notched a 6-1, 6-4 win over Lady Hoya Lydia Bartell.
Senior co-captain Marta Jedrzejak (Sieradz, Poland) handed Trina Snow a 6-2, 6-2 loss at the No. 3 singles spot, while freshman Jennifer Dent also cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
Freshman Andreea Fusea (Bucharest, Romania) and junior Chloe Chavardes (St. Nomlabreteche, France) were equally impressive in their straight set wins over their opponents.
Maryland gears up for double-header action this weekend as the Terps host Old Dominion on Feb. 8 and American on Feb. 9 at the Tennis Center at College Park. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
