COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Lindsey Harding scored a career-high 19 points and Alana Beard scored 18 points as No. 2 Duke beat Maryland 97-55 Monday night, clinching their third consecutive ACC regular season title.
Duke (26-1) controlled play from the opening tip-off, extending their ACC winning streak to 38 games with the win. The Blue Devils routed Maryland (10-16, 4-11) 101-52 on Jan. 23 in the teams' previous meeting.
Senior Renneika Razor missed her last home game as a Terrapin because of a concussion suffered during Maryland's loss to Virginia on Thursday. Razor is the team's leading scorer and the ACC steals leader.
Duke dominated the first half, leading 41-14 at the break. The Blue Devils opened the game with a 19-1 run, during which Maryland shot 0-16 from the field and four of five Duke starters scored.
Beard, a Naismith award and Wade Trophy finalist, was limited to 10 minutes in the first half because of two early fouls. Despite her foul trouble, Beard became the third player in ACC history to amass 300 steals, 500 rebounds, and 350 assists while moving into 21st place on the ACC's all-time scoring list.
In Razor's absence, freshman Chrissy Fisher led the Terrapins' attack with 15 points and six rebounds.
Despite out-rebounding the Blue Devils 42-37, the other Terrapin players could not produce any offense. Duke played very tight defense against the Terps, providing Maryland with few inside shots.
Maryland succumbed to Duke's strong full-court press, turning the ball over 24 times, including 14 in the first half. Maryland leads the all-time series with Duke 31-21, but has lost six straight.
