Duke head coach Gail Goestenkors
On Maryland's game:
"I give a lot of credit to Brenda and her team. They were playing under adverse situations with Renneika having to sit out with her concussion, I know that that was a tough blow for them...Towards the end of the first half and in the second half I thought they really fought hard and played tough. I'm sure this was a tough loss for them, but at the same time I think they will be better because of this overall."
On Duke's performance:
"I'm very disappointed in our overall effort; extremely disappointed. I thought we played a great game against Carolina, I thought we came out here and got outhustled. They took some balls out of our hands, we put them on the free throw line in the second half, allowed them to penetrate, didn't do a good job...they had 19 offensive rebounds. They're only the [fourth] team in this entire season to outrebound us; Connecticut, Tennessee, [Old Dominion], and Maryland without their best player. I told the team after the game that to me tells the story of our focus of intensity and it was unacceptable."
Maryland head coach Brenda Frese
On her team's performance:
"In spite of the adversity that we faced, I was proud of how we battled. You lose your leading scorer, your go to player, and the players we had out there, I thought they battled. I think there's a lot of positive things we can draw out of this with our players and should be able to give us a lot of confidence."
"I'm glad we never quit. That's easy to do when you have a point spread like that. It's easy to throw in the towel and I'm just proud that we battled the entire time with what we could."
On Duke:
"Duke is worth every No. 2 ranking that they have. They're very very talented. They have a ton of depth, they have so many weapons they just wear you down."
