Alternate Routes For Terp Fans Attending Feb. 6th Men's Basketball Game

Feb. 6, 2003

The University of Maryland national champion men's basketball team plays at home today, Thursday, Feb. 6th against Virginia. Tip-off is at 9 p.m. at Comcast Center.

Due to heavy traffic, fans should consider using alternate routes into campus. For southbound fans use exit 28b or New Hampshire Avenue off the Beltway and for those traveling from northbound use the Kenilworth Avenue exit and follow Paint Branch Parkway into campus. The Rte. 1 exit should be avoided.

To avoid delays fans with special basketball parking permits in lots 4B, 6, 11C, 9C, 9B, P and P* (star) should use the Paint Branch Drive entrance off Route 193.

Fans with special basketball parking permits in lots 11B, 4A, and 4i should use the main entrance of campus.

Those with passes to lot 4L should use the Stadium Drive entrance.

Pay parking for the handicapped is available in lot 6 at $5 per car. Pay parking ($5) is also available in the Regents Drive Parking Garage. However, Faculty and Staff with regular parking permits can park in Regents Drive Garage at no additional cost.

Free parking for the game is available to students and the public in Lot 1. And the university is now offering a free Comcast shuttle to get fans parked in Lot 1 to the Comcast Center. The free shuttle will make two stops in Lot 1 on Valley Drive. It will operate two hours before tip-off and up to two hours after the game.

To avoid traffic delays, if you do not have a basketball parking permit do not use Route 193 to the Paint Branch Drive entrance.
