  • The Maryland basketball team (No. 8 AP, No. 8 USA Today/ESPN) had its five-game winning streak snapped, dropping a 86-78 decision to Virginia Thursday night. The Terps are now 14-5 overall, 6-2 ACC; Virginia is 13-7, 4-4 ACC. Virginia went on a 27-9 run to overcome a 69-59 deficit.

  • The Terps had their 14-game ACC home winning streak stopped. Prior to tonight's loss, the Terps had not suffered a league loss at home since dropping a 74-71 decision to Florida Statee Feb. 14, 2001.

  • Senior guard Drew Nicholas scored 13 of his 18 points in the first half and eclipsed the 1,000-point mark with a 3-pointer with four seconds on the shot clock to close out a 17-2 Terrapin run at 4:08 and put the Terps up for the first time since 17:49 in the first half, at 37-35. Nicholas now totals 1,005 career points and has scored in double-figures in 18 games - all but one this season. Nicholas leads the Terps and is currently fifth in the ACC in scoring.

  • Senior Wooden Award candidate Steve Blake reached 11points for the game on a 3-pointer at 13:15 in the second half to reach 1,000 career points, finished the game with 12 total and 1,001 for his career. He also dealt five assists to pass Delaware's Taurence Chishold (finished with 877 in 1988) and moved into the NCAA's all-time Top 15. Blake is now in 15th place in NCAA history with 881 career helpers.

  • By scoring his 1,000th career point, Blake became the first player in ACC history to score as many points while also totaling 800 at least assists, 400 rebounds and 200 steals.

  • Senior Ryan Randle was 7-of-19 from the field to finish the game with 17 points and six rebounds. Randle has scored in double-figures in 12 games this season after scoring in double-digits once last season as a junior transfer and averages 17 points in the last two games.

  • Senior Tahj Holden was 4-of-7 from the floor and finished the game with 11 points. He averages 9.1 points in the last six games.
