
Terps Post Highest Score Of Season, Top GW

WASHINGTON, D.C. -
University of Maryland notched its highest team score of the season and second highest in school history Wednesday night in posting a 196.650-195.475 victory over host George Washington.
For the Terps, who are coming on strong during the month of March, it marked their second consecutive meet with a score of at least 196.025. Last Saturday, the Terps scored a 196.025 in winning a four-way meet which included North Carolina, Penn and GW.
Freshman Rachel Martinez equaled the second-highest all-around score in Terp history, finishing with a 39.525. The school record is 39.625 by Gillian Cote in 2000. Martinez scored 9.9's on the vault and floor, a 9.875 on beam and a 9.850 on vault. Fellow freshman Kristi Skowronski finished third in the all-around with a 39.250.
The Terps won three of four events, besting GW in the vault, beam and bars and tying the Colonials in the floor exercise.
Mandy Pascual (bars) and Sarah Hoenig (beam) posted the top individual routine scores for the Terps as each recorded a 9.925.
