COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After a month delay, the Terrapins (8-11, 0-2 ACC) will finally take the field in College Park this weekend as they play host at the Maryland Invitational. The Terps will play their first game at the Terrapin Softball Complex against Hofstra at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, followed by a tilt against Columbia at 5:00 p.m.
All Maryland games can be followed with live game stats via the internet at www.umterps.com. The tournament schedule is as follows:
Saturday, March 29 Delaware State vs. Hofstra--11:00 a.m. Delaware State vs. Columbia--1:00 p.m. Maryland vs. Hofstra--3:00 p.m. Maryland vs. Columbia--5:00 p.m.Sunday, March 30 Hofstra vs. Columbia--10:00 a.m. Maryland vs. Delaware State-12:00 p.m. Consolation Game--3 seed vs. 4 seed--2:00 p.m. Championship Game--1 seed vs. 2 seed--4:00 p.m.
Teams will be seeded in the following way:
1. Overall Record
2. Head-to-Head Record
3. Runs Scored
4. Run Differential
5. Coin Toss
There will be a 40-minute break in between each game. If a game ends early, the next game will not start until its scheduled start time. Admission to all games is free. The Terrapin Softball Complex provides adequate seating and parking. A concession stand will also be open throughout the weekend.
The Terrapins are heading into the weekend after taking wins against Western Kentucky and Troy State and losses against Georgia Tech and Tennessee Tech at the Buzz Classic. The Terps also dropped two games at Florida State in their first ACC contests of the season.
