
Sweeney Wins ACC Postgraduate Scholarship

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Terrapin centerfielder Samantha Sweeney (Marlton, N.J.) received the 2003 Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship. The $5,000 scholarship is awarded to ACC scholar athletes who have excelled on the field and in the classroom and will pursue a postgraduate education next school year. Sweeney is the only Terrapin and one of two ACC softball players to win the award.
Sweeney was an All-ACC softball selection in 2002, where she led the Terrapins and placed sixth in the league in batting average (.350). The speedster also holds team records in stolen bases (31) and triples (5).
Sweeney is majoring in communications and psychology. She plans on using the WJC Scholarship to pursue graduate studies in sports psychology.
