Women's Tennis Wraps Up Fall Schedule

Atlanta, Ga. - The University of Maryland women's tennis squad concluded their fall schedule Sunday at the Georgia Tech Invitational. The Terps competed in doubles matches against Georgia Tech and Marshall in singles matches. Junior Jennifer Dent capped off a strong weekend in Atlanta by defeating Lille Nzudie of Marshall, 6-2, 6-3. Dent won all of her three matches over the weekend. Sophomore Marianne Baker defeated Ashley Kroh, 6-2, 6-3. Freshman Tamar Huppes split the first two sets with Jeanne Schwartz 6-2, 5-7, but Huppes rebounded strong to blow past Schwartz in the third set 6-0. Junior Veronika Subertova was victorious over Danielle Hock, 7-6, 6-2.
Huppes teamed up with Junior Ramona But to defeat Alison Silverio and Kristi Miller of the Yellow Jackets, 9-8(4). The victory for the But and Huppes pair was their second of the invitational.
The Terps will begin Spring play in January with a weekend in Texas. The women's tennis squad will take on the Rice University Owls in Houston on January 29, 2005. The team will then travel to College Station the next day to battle the Aggies of Texas A&M.
