12 Terp Gymnasts Selected to EAGL All-Academic Team

March 11, 2004

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Excelling both in the gym and in the classroom, 12 members of the Terp gymnastics squad have been named to the 2004 EAGL All-Academic Team. This amount ties for the most honorees in one year in Maryland gymnastics history, equaling the 12 selected in 1999. Two gymnasts, seniors Katherine Schroeder and Rachel Sibert, receive the honor for the fourth time.

In order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.00 or higher in the two previous semesters, or in the fall semester if a freshman. Nine Maryland gymnasts earned the honor last season, with all eight returning athletes gracing the list again this year.

The 88 combined recipients from all eight teams matches the highest total in the nine-year history of the EAGL, tying the record set in 1999 and 2000. Student-athletes will be officially honored at this year's annual conference banquet, which will be held Friday, March 19, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
