Two More Qualify For NCAA Regionals At ACC Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of Maryland track and field teams wrapped up competition at the ACC Outdoor Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C., Saturday. Harold Manning and John Collins were the top individual finishers for the men's team, while Heather Houston and Toni Jefferson were top scorers for the women.
Manning was third in the 200-meter dash with an NCAA regional qualifying time of 21.17, while Collins finished third in the hammer throw with an NCAA regional qualifying throw of 185-09. Collins also came in 10th in the shot put (46-11.75).
Manning and Collins join women Toni Jefferson and Kierra Foster as NCAA regional qualifiers. Foster qualified in the long jump at the Terrapin Invitational (19-10.25), while Jefferson's time in the 400 meters yesterday qualified her (54.08).
Rob Frelow finished sixth in the 400-meter dash (47.98).
As a team, the Terrapin men finished ninth with 20 points.
The women's team, also a ninth-place finisher with 28 points, was led by Houston and Jefferson. Houston finished second on the heptathlon (4917), while Jefferson was fourth in the 400-meter dash. Jefferson's time of 54.08 was an NCAA regional qualifying mark.
Teyarnte' Carter, running in her last ACC Championship meet, finished sixth in the 100-meter dash (12.15).
