ABERDEEN, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team fell to Georgia Tech on Friday at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md., by a score of 10-2. Junior Kevin Hart had a 4-for-4 performance at the plate for the Terrapins in the loss.
Georgia Tech (36-17, 16-5 ACC) got on the board first, scoring one run in the first inning and another in the fourth. The Terrapins (21-30, 4-18 ACC) responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth. After junior Will Frazier singled to center field, Hart brought him around to score with a double to left center.
The Terrapins tied the game at 2-2 by scoring another run in the fifth inning. With two outs, junior Elliot Singletary doubled down the left field line. Sophomore Matt Maropis followed that up by doubling down the right field line to knock in Singletary. The Yellow Jackets rebounded by scoring eight more runs to earn a 10-2 victory.
Starting on the mound for the Terrapins, sophomore Ben Pfinsgraff struck out six batters and allowed two earned runs on four hits in 6.2 innings of work against the Yellow Jackets. Maropis was the only Terrapin other than Hart with multiple hits in the game.
