GAINESVILLE, Fla. -
The University of Maryland track and field team was represented by six athletes at the NCAA East Regional meet in Gainesville, Fla., Friday. The Terrapins' top finisher was Kierra Foster in the long jump, as her leap of 19-02.50 placed her 18th overall.
Tia Burley and Toni Jefferson were both competing in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash, and finished 16th and 17th, respectively. Burley was fourth in her heat with a time of 53.79, while Jefferson improved her previous personal best of the year with a 53.88 and finished fifth in her heat.
Also in action was John Collins, whose 169-07 in the hammer throw earned him a seventh-place finish in his heat (19th overall).
Harold Manning turned in a solid showing in the 200-meter dash preliminary, finishing 22nd overall and sixth in his heat with a time of 22.10.
Heather Houston competed in the long jump but did not record a score due to fouls.
