
Women's Tennis Continues Success at Maryland Invitational

College Park, Md. - On day two of the Maryland Invitational, the Maryland Women's Tennis squad looked very impressive in singles action. In Flight A play Junior Jennifer Dent defeated fellow Terrapin, Freshman Julia Graca 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the finals of the Flight A bracket. Dent will face Beatrice Grasu of Richmond on Sunday. Grasu advanced to finals by defeating Junior Veronika Subertova in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-0. Subertova took the first set but Grasu bounced back to win the match.
In the Flight B bracket Sophomore Masha Senic was victorious as she breezed by Michelle Alexander of George Washington. Senic will square off with Robin Carter of Richmond for the Flight B singles title.
The Flight C final will be all Maryland as Freshman Tamar Huppes will face Junior Neda Mihneva on Sunday. Huppes and Mihneva won their singles matches easily on Saturday and now look forward to the all Maryland match up.
Sophomore Brooke Rogers flew by Pearly Seung of Syracuse 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the Flight D finals where she will face Ashley Ebbert of Cornel
In Flight A doubles play Jennifer Dent and Veronika Subertova fell to Akane Kobuko and Mollie Edinson of Cornell in a tough match 8-5. Brooke Rogers and Neda Minhneva ousted the West Virginia combo of Catherine Koontz and Ashley Constantine 8-3, and will look to capture the Flight C doubles title on Sunday.
In Philadelphia, Junior Ramona But continued her winning ways as she defeated Perrthi Mukundan of Harvard 6-4, 7-6 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Cissy Leary Invitational. But then went on to handle Sheila Caho of Pennsylvania 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals which will be played on Sunday. On the doubles side But teamed with Junior Marianne Baker to cruise past Maaria Husain and Jenny Schular of Penn State, 8-2.
