
Terps Conclude Play At Maryland Invitational

College Park, Md. - On the final day of play at the Maryland Invitational, five Terrapins competed for singles titles in their respective brackets. Junior Jennifer Dent captured the Flight A singles titles as she defeated Beatrice Grasu of Richmond, 6-4, 6-4. The win for Dent was her fourth at the Invitational over the weekend, as she concluded it by defeating Grasu the number one seed in the Flight A bracket.
In the Flight B final, Sophomore Masha Senic fell to Robin Carter of Richmond in a tough match 6-2, 7-5. The Flight C final featured a battle between two Terrapins as Freshman Tamar Huppes battled Junior Neda Mihneva. Minheva captured her first tournament title as a Terrapin as she defeated Huppes 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore Brooke Rogers fell to Ashley Ebbert of Cornell in the Flight D final, 6-3, 6-1.
Rogers did not go home empty handed as she teamed with Mihneva to capture the Flight C Doubles titles. The Maryland duo defeated the UMBC combo of Ale Pedergnane and Aimee Lim 8-6.
Junior Ramona But defeated Yulia Rivelis of Pennsylvania 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals of the Cissy Leary Invitational to advance to the final. But then went on to defeat Julia Koulbitskaya of Pennsylvania to capture the Cissy Leary Invitational crown. But cruised to the title as she won the final 6-3, 6-1. After capturing the singles title, But teamed with Sophomore Marianne Baker to win the doubles title. The Terps defeated Bergman/O'Rian of Harvard 8-2, to wrap up a very successful weekend at the Cissy Leary Invitational.
