
Terps Fall To Rice, 5-2

Houston, Tx. - In their first matchup of the season the Maryland women's tennis lost to the Rice University Owls, 5-2. The Terps won the doubles point two matches to one, but fell in singles action, 5-1.
The combo of Marianne Baker and Ramona But defeated Blair DiSesa and Kimberley Patenaude, 9-7. Tamar Huppes and Jennifer Dent downed Amy Cao and Medeja Egic, 8-6. In singles action Neda Mihneva was the only Terp to record a victory as she defeated Christine Dao, 7-5, 6-4. Baker split the first two sets with Kimberley Patenaude, 6-1, 5-7, but fell in the third set, 6-2.
The Terps will look to rebound in their second matchup of the season as the team travels to College Station, Tx., today to face the Aggies of Texas A&M.
