Head coach Gary Williams:
On opening the heart of the conference schedule:
"Florida State seems like it was awhile ago now, and it was a really good win for us, but now you go on the road and see if you can do it."
On the game being a matchup between the No. 1 and No. 3 offenses in the country:
"I've seen games like this where they don't play out the way you think they will. Last year there were a lot of points scored and I would think it would go the same way this year. I go into this game expecting that we'll have to score a lot of points to win the game."
On his team's defense:
"Defense is something you can continue to get better at throughout the year. As a coach, you always have to think you can get better defensively. This will be a test. I like that part of it, you find out where you are defensively in a game like this. That's important for the rest of the way, because you can make changes quickly at this time of the year."
On North Carolina coach Roy Williams
"Roy is a very successful coach, he's made it to Final Fours. He's going for his 450th win."
On the challenge of playing on the road in the ACC:
"College basketball is different than most sports. If you look at football, you're a little further away from the fans. I think the home court means a lot in college basketball."
On matching up one-on-one with the Tar Heels:
"I never worry about one-on-one matchups. I worry about how our team can play team defense against Carolina's team. If we play good team defense then we can stop them. In today's basketball, with the way that guys can go to the basket, if you get caught trying to play one-on-one defense you're in trouble."
