The Maryland women's cross country team finished 10th at the Penn State National Invitational in State College, Pa. on Saturday. Senior Cori Koch paced the Terps again, finishing 21st overall in 21:37. It was the third time in Maryland's first four races that she has been the team's fastest runner. Junior Laurel Jefferson finished in 37th place, crossing in 21:45. Koch and Jefferson have been the Terps' top two runners at every competition thus far.

With 226 points, No. 29 Maryland finished behind Pennsylvania and Cornell, both of whom the team had beaten two weeks ago at the Paul Short Invitational. "At the last meet we were on one side of the bubble and today we were on the other side," head coach Dr. Michael Garrison said. "This is going to set up a great battle at the Regional meet. Our key now is to get everyone running well on the same day."

Senior Danielle Siebert gave one of her best performances of the year, coming in 59th overall in 22:28. Also for the Terps senior Katie Purcell finished 74th (22:40), freshman Kylynn McKinley finished 85th (22:51), senior Allison Carney finished 93rd (22:59) and senior Shari Gorga finished 117th overall (23:19).
