CARY, N.C. -

  • Maryland defeated Wake Forest 2-1 Wednesday afternoon at SAS Soccer Stadium in Cary, N.C. The Terps advanced to the semifinals for the fourth straight year.

  • The Terrapins extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games.

  • Jason Garey extended his consecutive point streak to 11 as well. Garey scored his 57th career goal, which ranks him tied for ninth all-time in ACC history. It was also Garey's 19th goal of the year which is tied for fourth in a single season at Maryland.

  • Stephen King's penalty kick conversion was his second of the season. His other came earlier this season against the Demon Deacons. His goal was his 12th this season. King also started the play on Garey's goal by playing to Graham Zusi on the right flank. It was his eighth assist of the year.

  • Maryland is 3-3 in PK conversions this season. The PK conversion for Wake Forest was the first by an opponent this season (1-2).

  • Zusi's assist was his second this season and his first since Sept. 18 against St. Bonaventure. Both of his career assists came on Jason Garey goals.

  • Chris Seitz remained unbeaten as a starter. He is 9-0-1 between the pipes for the Terps.

  • For the 12th time this season, the Maryland defense held its opponent to under 10 shots. Wake Forest had just eight shots against the Terps.

  • After Tuesday's release of the NSCAA poll, Maryland became the consensus No. 1 team in all four polls. The Terps are 7-3-0 all-time as the NSCAA's No. 1 team, and the win against Wake Forest snapped a two-game losing streak as the No. 1 team in the country.

  • Maryland has won five straight away from Ludwig Field.

  • The Terps are 14-0-1 when scoring the game's first goal.

  • Friday's opponent, Duke, was a 2-0 winner against Virginia Tech on Wednesday. Earlier this season, the Terrapins defeated the Blue Devils 3-1 in Durham, N.C.

  • The last time Maryland faced Duke at the ACC Tournament was in 2000. That year, the Blue Devils defeated the Terps 2-1 in overtime.
