College Park, Md. - Maryland Freshman Gretchen Kittelberger was named EAGL Rookie of the Week after her strong performance at Penn State.

Although the Terps were defeated by the Nittany Lions 196.300-192.325, Kittelberger was consistent in 3 events in which she performed.

She earned a 9.70 on vault and tied teammate Angie Ferg to lead the Terps on that event. Kittelberger has scored a 9.70 or better on vault in every meet this season.

Kittelberger scored a 9.775 on floor exercise, tying Ferg for second place on the squad. She also competed on uneven bars, scoring a 9.650.

She is the second Maryland Gymnast to win the EAGL Rookie of the Week award. Teammate Lindsey Bonomo won it January 20 for her efforts in the quad meet at Ohio State.

The Terps travel to the University of North Carolina to compete in the Governor's Cup, Saturday at 2p.m.
