Women's Tennis Back On Winning Track

College Park, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team ended their two match losing streak on Saturday, by defeating Old Dominion and Georgetown. The team hosted their first two matches of the season and the friendly confines of the Tennis Center at College Park were good to the Terps.
In the first matchup Maryland defeated Old Dominion, 7-0. The Terps won all six singles matches. Ramona But defeated Kerstin Endlich, 6-3, 6-3. Marianne Baker easily got past Larissa Santos, 6-1, 6-1. Jennifer Dent continued the success by the Terps defeating Fernanda Luiz, 7-6, 6-2. Veronika Subertova topped Barbara Costa, 6-3, 6-2. Neda Mihneva and Tamar Huppes also scored singles victories for Maryland. Mihneva defeated Barbara Kerner, 6-1, 6-2. Huppes topped Linda Garder, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action the Terrapins took all three matches. But and Huppes defeated Endlich and Luiz, 8-2. Baker and Brooke Rogers teamed to beat Costa and Santos, 8-6. Subertova and Mihneva closed out the winning for the Terps defeating Kerner and Garder, 8-2.
Maryland welcomed the Georgetown Hoyas to the Tennis Center and the outcome was more of the same. The Terps defeated the Hoyas, 7-0, to improve to 2-4 on the season. The Terps took all six singles matches lead by Marianne Baker as she handled Liz Winokur, 6-1, 6-0. Masha Senic cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Sana Malouf, 6-0, 6-0. Julia Graca defeated Kristin Dew, 6-1, 6-1.
The Terps return to action this Saturday, February, 19th at 11:00am, when they face Richmond at the Tennis Center at College Park.
