Maryland assistant gymnastics coach Talya Vexler will be the guest speaker Thursday, Feb. 24 at the Athens, Ga. Regional Breast Health Center Dedication.

Vexler, a former gymnast at the University of Georgia from 1999-2002 was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2003 and beat the disease.

The University of Georgia gymnastics team took part in a year-long event to raise funds for the center. On Feb. 18, Vexler and the Gym Dogs presented a $100,000 check to the Athens Regional Medical Center's new Breast Health Center.

The Georgia Gym Dog fans pledges have gone toward the naming of the screening (waiting) room in the center in her name. The room will be called the Talya Vexler Dogwood Room.
