Maryland Gymnastics Finishes Second at Quad Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Gymnastics team enjoyed its highest meet score on the season tonight, totaling 194.125. The Terps finished second to No. 20 Arizona who notched 195.650. Rhode Island scored 189.975, finishing third and James Madison rounded out the scoring with 186.600.

Maryland's Angie Ferg set a career-high on vault, notching a 9.825. Rachel Martinez added a 9.80 and Lindsey Bonomo totaled a 9.725 to help give the Terps a 48.675 on vault.

Mandy Pascual led the Terps on uneven bars, scoring a 9.775, while Rachel Colon and Alexandria Gatch added a 9.750. Maryland's team total on uneven bars was 48.525.

While the Terps had some difficulty on balance beam, Alex Gatch notched a 9.725, finishing tied for second overall. Rachel Colon added a 9.675 and Maryland's total score was 48.0.

Once Again floor exercise proved to be the Terps best event. For the first time this season, every floor competitor on Maryland's squad scored a 9.70 or higher. Rachel Martinez notched a 9.875, tying for first overall with Arizona's Katie Johnson. Ginny Scott also had an outstanding performance, adding a 9.850 to Maryland's team total of 48.925 on floor.

Rachel Martinez scored a 38.525 in all-around, finishing second overall.
