Terps Conclude Play At Maryland Invitational

Terps Fall To Seminoles, 6-1

Tallahassee, Fla. - The Maryland women's tennis team had its seven match win streak snapped on Friday afternoon by the Florida State Seminoles, 6-1. The action took place at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla. With the loss the Terps fall to 7-5 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.

The Terps lost the doubles point to the Seminoles by falling in two of the three doubles matches. Neda Mihneva and Tamar Huppes recorded the doubles victory for the Terps by defeating Miranda Foley and Tapiwa Marobela, 8-3.

In singles play, Maryland lost five out of the six matches. Veronika Subertova captured the only singles victory for the Terps. Subertova defeated Miranda Foley in a close match, 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 in the tiebreaker. Ramona But won the first set against Mihaela Moldovan, 6-1, but fell in the next two sets, 6-2, 6-1. Roxanne Clarke topped Marianne Baker, 6-3, 6-2. Jennifer Dent fell to Lindsay Deason, 6-4, 6-1. Tapiwa Marobela topped Neda Mihneva, 7-5, 6-1. Amberly Tantee defeated Tamar Huppes, 6-2, 6-3.

The Terps will be back in action on Sunday afternoon as they travel to Coral Gables, Fla., to take on the Miami Hurricanes.
