The University of Maryland received its first invitation to the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Tournament since 1999 when the Terps were paired with Harvard University in the bracket announced on Wednesday. Maryland will face the Crimson on Friday May 13th at 2 p.m. The action will take place at the Robert M. Beren Tennis Center on Harvard's campus. The winner of the match will face the winner of the Tennesse-Boston University match on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Maryland compiled an 11-11 record this season, including victories in four out of their last five matches. Harvard is coming off an impressive season where they captured the Ivy League Conference title.
The Terrapins will be making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in six years. Maryland lost to Mississippi, 5-0, in the first round of the 1999 NCAA Tournament.
It will mark the first NCAA invitation in the four seaons that Martin Novak has been head coach at Maryland.
