
Terps Complete First Day of William and Mary Invitational

Williamsburg, Va. - The Maryland women's tennis team kicked off its fall schedule on Friday, competing in the 13th annual William & Mary Invitational. The Terps were successful in doubles play as all four doubles teams advanced on the first day of the tournament.
Marianne Baker and Ramona But defeated Beatrice Grasu and Robin Carter of Richmond, 8-4, in the flight A doubles bracket. Neda Mihneva teamed up with Julia Graca to oust Jessica Siebel and Ivanna King of Princeton, 8-5, in the flight B bracket. Veronika Subertova teamed up with Brooke Rogers to top Daisy Arnes and Brett Finkelstein of Princeton, 8-5, in the C bracket. Also competing in the flight C doubles bracket were Jennifer Dent and Masha Senic, they defeated Betham James and Natalie Kretzer of Virginia Tech, 8-4.
The Terps struggled in singles action as Neda Mihneva was the only player to record a singles victory. Mihneva defeated Sarah Svoboda of Boston College in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-5. She went on to fall to Anita Ivancevic of Brown, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
The tournament continues on Saturday morning as all four Terps doubles team will attempt to advance in their respective brackets.
