No. 19 Maryland Gymnastics To Face No. 2 Georgia

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Terps will travel to Athens, Georgia to take on the No. 2 Georgia Gym Dogs, Saturday, January 14 at 4:00p.m. Maryland won its season opener against James Madison and look to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Rachel Martinez won all-around (38.925) in the Terps season opener and was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week. Angie Ferg finished first overall with a 9.825 on vault. Martinez finished first on uneven bars with a 9.75. Alex Gatch led Maryland on balance beam with a first-place finish overall (9.575) and Martinez was first on floor exercise with a 9.875.

The Gym Dogs defeated four ranked teams (195.7) to win the Cancun Classic last week. Georgia returns seven letterwinners and lost only one from last year's National Champion squad. Freshman Tiffany Tolnay tied for second on vault with a 9.875 and tied for first on balance beam (9.775). Former Olympian and freshman Courtney Kupets led the Gym Dogs on uneven bars with a second-place finish overall (9.85). Sophomore Katie Heenan won floor exercise (9.95) and all-around (39.25).
