Pete Hess placed 43rd to lead the University of Maryland men to a 16th place finish at the Chile Pepper Invitational today.
The junior from Toms River, N.J., ran a 30:27:70. Teammate Ben Diestel was the second Terp to finish, with a time of 31:44:90 and finished just ahead of Greg Kelsey who ran a 31:49:20.
Kevin Gahr (32:05:50), Josh Davis (32:11:90), Richie Booth (32:19:30) and Pat Reaves (32:57:80) rounded out the Maryland finishers.
The Terps return to action on Oct. 28 at the ACC Championships in Charlottesville, Va.
