Well it is safe to say that Fall is officially here! The trees are beginning to change colors and there is a bit of a bite to the wind.

Thankfully this past weekend was beautiful, because what a busy weekend it was! It started off with Homecoming where the freshmen got to enjoy their first college homecoming experience. Us coaches also got to enjoy homecoming as we put together an alumni tailgate where there were quite a number of `oldies' who came back to enjoy the day. It was nice hearing all the stories of what they used to do in `the old days'. We heard everything from various travel experiences to what was done to fund-raise money (the worst by far was apparently cleaning up the arena after basketball games...when they had first introduced nachos and cheese!).

Then on Sunday the team all got up early to participate in the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2006 Washington DC Walk". The girls have been raising money for a little over a month now and everyone was excited to contribute to such a great cause. The walk began at the National Mall and traveled around both the Washington and Jefferson Monuments. It was exciting as some of the team had never been into DC before.

The team will close out the weekend with their last official Sunday lift and Fartlek. This begins the last week of their Boot Camp, which has gone exceptionally well. The girls have been training extremely hard and a difference in their routine readiness and confidence can already be seen.

So, not only is there a crispness in the air from the changing seasons there is also an air of self-assurance from the team that is evident each and every day we walk into the gym. This team knows that this year is THEIR YEAR and they are fighting hard to make it so.

Thanks so much for reading and for supporting Terps Gymnastics. Here's to a great season ahead!

    Vicki
