Wrestling Holds Red & Black Wrestle-Offs Thursday Night

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland wrestling team kicks off its 2006-07 season when it takes part in the Red & Black Wrestle-Offs on October 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Comcast Center Pavilion. The exhibition will feature 11 matches between members of the Terrapins squad. Admission is free to the event.
The exhibition will give the public their first chance to view the freshman class, which was ranked No. 13 in the nation by Intermatwrestle.com. Five of the newcomers will be featured during the night, including John Price taking on senior captain Jerry Afari at the heavyweight class.
The Wrestle-Offs will also give Maryland fans their first glimpse at redshirt freshman Hudson Taylor, who was ranked No. 11 at 197 pounds in the NWCA/Intermat Preseason Rankings. He will be taking on true freshman Patrick Gilmore.
Junior Andrew Schlaffer, who won the ACC title at 149 pounds last season, will also be wrestling. He will take on junior Keith Bernard.
