The University of Maryland men's cross country team placed 10th at the ACC Championships hosted by the University of Virginia, today.
Junior Peter Hess led the Terps, placing 30th. He ran the 8k race in 25:35.00. Following Hess for the Terps was, freshman Ben Diestel, who placed 47th with a time of 26:03.10.
Itay Magidi of Clemson claimed the individual title, while N.C. State won the team championship. Magidi completed the race in 23:52.50.
The team championship was the 14th for N.C. State, who tallied 31 total points. The top five runners for the Wolfpack all earned All-ACC honors finishing in the top nine.
Florida State finished second with 79 points, while Virginia accumulated 87 points to place third. Duke and Clemson finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively registering 124 and 132 points. Finishing sixth through 12th were Virginia Tech (145), Boston College (196), North Carolina (213), Wake Forest (217), Maryland (261), Georgia Tech (315) and Miami (348).
The Terrapin men return to action Nov. 11 in Lock Haven, Pa. for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
