University of Maryland swimming and diving will return to action this weekend, hosting the Terrapin Cup Invitational Thursday, November 16 through Saturday, November 18 at the Eppley Recreation Center Natatorium. Last year, NC State won the Terp Cup and will be returning this weekend. The Maryland men's team finished in sixth place at the 2005 Invitational.
The Terps will welcome ten visiting teams on the men's side. In addition to Maryland, the participating men's teams will include: University of Connecticut, West Chester University, College of William and Mary, West Virginia University, NC State University, Drexel University, Colgate University, Yale University, University of Mary Washington, and Villanova.
Preliminary events will begin each day at 10:00 am (diving prelims will begin at 1:00 pm) and finals will follow each evening at 6:30 pm. Thursday's events include: 200-yard freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, 1 meter diving, and 400 medley relay.
Friday's events will consist of: 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 3 meter diving (women's), and 800 freestyle relay.
On Saturday the following events will be held: 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 3 meter diving (men's), and 400 freestyle relay.

Last time for the Terps (against Duke and NC State):
-Maryland fell to Duke (168-131) and NC State (193-104).
-The Terps saw success in the relay events, starting the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:34.52) and going on to win the 200 free relay (1:25.13).
-Senior Danny Gray (Carlisle, Pa.) swam to a first-place finish in the 50 free (20.98). Maryland also dominated the 100 free with sophomore Dong Kim (Bucks Co., Pa) placing first (46.23), and Gray taking second (46.66).
-Freshman Chris Rouchard (Westlake, Ohio) led the Terps in the 1000 free with a fifth-place finish (9:54.71). Rouchard also swam to sixth place in the 500 free (4:51.42).
-Kim also notched second place as the top Maryland finisher (51.70) in the 100 back.
-Sophomore Andrew Weinert (Allentown, Pa.) was the top Maryland finisher in the 100 butterfly, claiming second place (51.75) and freshman Aleksandar Damjanic (Zagreb, Croatia) came in third (52.87).
-Senior Tim Shepard (Catonsville, Md.) led the way in the 100 breaststroke placing second (59.92) with sophomore Eric Cullen (Severn, Md.) finishing third (1:00.05) and senior Tony Miller in fourth (1:00.07). Shepard went on to win the 200 breast (2:09.59) and Cullen came in fourth.
