
Maryland Swimmers Advance to Finals in Day Two of Terp Cup

The preliminary session in day two of the Terrapin Cup Invitational included the: 400-yard individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and women's 1 meter diving. Several Maryland swimmers have advanced to the finals in these events, set to take place this evening.
On the men's side, senior Tony Miller (Severna Park, Md.) will swim the 400 IM in tonight's session after a 17th-place finish in the prelims (4:13.31).
In the 100 fly, sophomore Andrew Weinert (Allentown, Pa.) placed 21st (51.68) and junior Eric Thomasson (Severna Park, Md.) tied for 24th with Michael Hogg of NC State (51.89) in the preliminary session, good for a spot in finals.
Maryland will have two swimmers in the finals for the 100 breast. Sophomore Eric Cullen (Severn, Md.) had an 18th-place finish (59.08) and senior Tim Shepard (Catonsville, Md.) came in 21st (59.57) this morning.
In the 100 back, sophomore Dong Kim (Bucks Co., Pa.) advanced to the finals with an eighth-place finish (51.99) and Thomasson notched an alternate spot after a 25th-place finish (54.19).
Finals for this morning's events will begin at 6:30 pm at Maryland's Eppley Recreation Center. In addition, the 800 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay will take place during the finals session.
