CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Ramona But and Jennifer Dent each won both singles and doubles matches as No. 30 Maryland spoiled the Atlantic Coast Conference women's tennis debut of Boston College, 6-1, in a match played on Sunday.

The Terrapins improved to 3-2 overall on the season and won their ACC opener. Boston College was ranked 75th this week in the FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.

But and Marianne Baker combined to win the top doubles pairing, 8-2, and Dent paired with Michal Amir to win 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.

With the early lead, Maryland went on to control all but one singles pairing, with But defeating Szilvia Szegedi, 6-0, 6-1 at the top pairing.

Dent dropped her first set at No. 6 singles to Lindsey Nash in a tie-breaker, but came back to win the second set. Dent won the third set in a tie-break, as all the other matches had been completed and the team match was decided.

Veronika Subertova, Neda Mihneva and Julia Graca all won singles matches in straight sets for the Terrapins.

Maryland travels to Richmond next weekend to face the University of Richmond on Saturday and Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday. Both matches begin at 11 a.m.
