Maryland Gymnastics To Host Pittsburgh And Rutgers

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Gymnastics team will try to defeat two EAGL conference rivals Friday at 7 p.m. in the Comcast Pavilion. The Terps look to avenge a loss at the hands of the Panthers last week, 192.925-190.85.

Rachel Colon scored a season high in the all-around (38.85) and finished fourth on vault (9.675), uneven bars (9.725) and balance beam (9.8) and sixth on floor exercise (9.65). Rachel Martinez (9.8) and Angie Ferg (9.725) finished first and second overall on vault. The Terps scored a season high 48.375 on floor exercise.

Pittsburgh's Andrea Arlotta was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week for her performance last week against Maryland. Arlotta won her fourth all-around title this season with a season high 39.2. Jessica Garber (Jan. 18) and Amanda Rushton (Jan. 24) were each named EAGL Specialist of the Week. The Panthers are 6-2 on the season and ranked fifth in the EAGL conference.

Rutgers lost to Penn State last week, 196.025-190.55. The Scarlet Knights are 5-3 and ranked eighth in the EAGL Conference. Rutgers faced Pittsburgh on February 4, losing a close meet, 191.950-190.625. Latara Northcutt was named EAGL Rookie of the Week (Jan.10) for her performance in a victory against New Hampshire the first week of the season.

Admission is free to all Maryland Gymnastics meets and the Terps will autograph posters following the meet.

Maryland will be home against next week, when it takes on Temple, February 26 at 2p.m. in the Comcast Pavilion.
