For the second week in a row, Ramona But and Marianne Baker won their singles and doubles matchups. The Terps, ranked 31st, also clinched the next two double sets as well as two more single sets for Maryland to finish 4-3 over No. 24 South Carolina in a women's tennis match played Friday at The Tennis Center at College Park.
The Terrapins clinched the second win in a row to elevate their record, 2-1, after winning against Texas A&M last Sunday, 4-3.
For the first time this season, Maryland won all three doubles matches. But and Baker started it off, finishing their set, 8-5. Veronika Subertova and Brooke Rogers took the next match, 8-6, while Neda Mihneva and Julia Graca took the third, also scoring 8-6.
Maryland and South Carolina split single set wins 3-3. Each team finished the match in two sets or less. Baker easily slid by her opponent, capturing a win in her single set, 6-1, 6-1. Ramona But also added another single win to Maryland, 6-1, 6-3.
Maryland's next match will be played against Michigan at home on Sunday morning.
