COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Gymnastics team took second place at the 11th annual Governor's Cup Saturday. The Terps scored a season high 192.375 to finish second behind North Carolina (195.05). North Carolina State finished third with a team total of 192.25 and Towson finished fourth with a score of 191.3. The state of North Carolina claimed the Governor's Cup title for the fifth straight year.

Rachel Martinez led Maryland on vault with a score of 9.8 for seventh place. Rachel Colon added a career high 9.775 for ninth place and Angie Ferg notched a 9.75, tying for tenth place. The Terps scored a team total of 48.725. Towson's Christina Ghani and North Carolina's Courtney Bumpers tied for first with a score of 9.875. North Carolina won the event with a score of 49.075.

Maryland took the top two spots on uneven bars with Martinez placing first (9.8) and Mandy Pascual finishing second (9.775). Colon added a 9.725, tying for eighth place overall. The Terps scored a total of 48.1 on the event. The Tar Heels won the event with a score of 48.525.

Alex Gatch tallied a season high 9.8 on balance beam for Maryland and finished second overall. Colon notched a season high 9.775, tying for third place and Martinez added a 9.7 for eighth place. The Terps scored a team total 47.45 and North Carolina won the event with a score of 48.65. The Tar Heel's Courtney Bumpers took first place with a 9.875.

Martinez paced the Terps on floor exercise with a season high 9.9, finishing second overall. Ferg added a 9.7, tying teammate Lindsey Bonomo for fourteenth place. Maryland scored a season high 48.1 on the event. Bumpers tallied a 9.925 and led North Carolina to victory (48.8).

Bumpers took home the all-around title with a score of 39.375. Martinez was close behind with a season-high 39.2. North Carolina's Christine Robella rounded out the top three with a 39.025.

The Terps are now 5-4 on the season and travel to Pittsburgh, February 11 for a quad meet with Pittsburgh, Ohio State and SUNY Brockport (7 p.m.).
