The Maryland Women's Tennis Team lost on Friday against Miami, 7-0. Maryland's record is now 8-5, 1-1 in the ACC. The match was played at The Tennis Center at College Park.
Maryland suffered a tough loss today, starting in the doubles matches. Marianne Baker and Veronika Subertova played first doubles, losing, 8-5. Second doubles Michal Amir and Jennifer Dent also lost, 8-3. Miami was now ahead 1-0.
In the first singles match, Baker won the first game of her set, but ended up losing, 6-1. She also lost the second set, 6-1, giving Miami a 2-0 lead. Subertova also experience frustration, losing her match, 6-3, 6-1.
Miami continued to dominate the courts. Third singles Neda Mihneva lost, 6-3, 6-0. Dent, playing fourth singles, lost the first set, 6-0, but looked hopeful for the second. However, after a competitive match, Dent could not hold on, losing, 6-4.
Julia Graca played fifth singles, also falling to her opponent, 6-1, 6-2. Masha Senic wrapped it up for the Terps at sixth singles, falling, 6-1, 6-0.
The Terps will play another ACC at home against Florida State at 11 a.m.
