
Terps Wrap Regular Season at Virginia on Sunday

Maryland (17-11, 7-8 ACC) closes out the regular season at Virginia on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in a nationally-televised game on FSN. It is also the final game at University Hall for the Cavaliers, who were the Terps' final opponent at Cole Field House at the close of the 2002 regular season.
Maryland earned a hard-fought, 65-61, win over Miami Wednesday night at Comcast Center to finish 14-2 at home. Nik Caner-Medley led the Terps with 18 points in his final home game, while Mike Jones scored 15 and Ekene Ibekwe had nine points and 11 rebounds. Maryland limited Miami to 39 percent shooting for the game and hit 23-28 free throws.
The Terps are led by Caner-Medley (15.4 ppg, 6.2 rpg), who is averaging 16.3 points and 6.5 rebounds in ACC play. Junior point guard D.J. Strawberry (10.2 ppg, 4.0 apg) directs the Maryland attack, while Ibekwe (11.1 ppg, 6.7 rpg) and sophomore center James Gist (8.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.4 bpg) man the paint. Jones (10.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg), who is averaging 13.7 points the last 11 games as a starter, rounds out the Terps' starting five.
Virginia (14-12, 7-8 ACC) enters the game having lost two straight, including a 99-54 defeat at North Carolina on Wednesday. J.R. Reynolds led the Cavaliers with 19 points. North Carolina shot 59 percent for the game and hit 11 3-pointers. Reynolds has scored in double figures in 20 straight games and is second on the team with 16.3 ppg. Sean Singletary leads UVA with 18.2 points and 4.4 assists per game.
