
Maryland Gymnastics To Host George Washington In Final Home Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Gymnastics team will take on EAGL opponent and local rival George Washington on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Comcast Pavilion. This will be Maryland's final home meet of the 2006 season.
The Terps split a tri-meet on Saturday, losing to Towson 193.55-193.025 and defeating William & Mary (189.175). Angie Ferg paced the Terps on vault with a 9.8 and second-place finish. Mandy Pascual scored a season high 9.875 on uneven bars, finishing first overall. Rachel Colon and Rachel Martinez tied for second place on balance beam with a score of 9.725. Martinez scored a 9.825 on floor exercise for first place and Kim Loew added a 9.725 for fourth place to give Maryland the win on floor (48.575).
George Washington is 9-11 on the season and is coming off a loss to Central Michigan, 190.85-190.675. Erin Aiken finished first on vault with a season high 9.825 and took the all-around title (37.75). Tiffany Jones scored a 9.75 on uneven bars for second place and Bree Plotsker tallied a 9.675 for third place on balance beam. Jess Guilbert notched a 9.8 for second place on floor exercise.
Maryland's meet with George Washington marks the last time seniors, Alex Gatch, Rachel Martinez, Mandy Pascual and Rebecca Ruppert will compete at home. The team will autograph posters following the meet and admission is free.
