Final Stats

No. 37 Women's Tennis Team fell in a very close match to No. 19 Wake Forest, 4-3. Maryland's record is now 10-10, 3-6 in the ACC.
Maryland's first doubles team to play was No. 12 Ramona But and Marianne Baker against No. 42, Alex Hirsch and Ashlee Davis. They quickly won the match, 8-2. Second doubles Jennifer Dent and Michal Amir also won their match, 8-5, grasping the early lead for the Terps. While third doubles Julia Graca and Neda Mihneva fell, their match went into a tiebreaker, just losing 8-7 (4).
But, played first singles for the Terps. But lost the first set, 6-3, but quickly recovered, winning the next two sets, 6-4, 6-3, adding another victory for Maryland.
Second singles Baker was defeated in a hard fought match. Baker dropped closely in two sets, 7-6 (4), 6-4. Third singles Veronika Subertova also fell, 6-2, 6-2.
Dent, who played fourth singles for the Terrapins, also was defeated in her match, but not without a fight. Dent fell 7-5, 6-4. Amir's fifth singles match was even closer. Amir won the first set, 7-5, but fell in the second, 6-2. The last set proved too much for Amir, falling, 6-2.
Maryland's third win of the day came in the sixth singles match. Mihneva, who played last for the Terps, won the first set, 6-4, but fell, 6-3, in the second. Since the match was already decided in Wake Forest's favor, Mihneva played a super tiebreaker. Mihneva did not let Wake Forest's victory affect her play, quickly grasping the tiebreaker, 10-5.
Maryland will face Virginia Tech on April 13 at 2:30 p.m.
